Lovely Irmo, SC has many claims to fame. The "Gateway to Lake Murray" includes pleasant tree-lined streets, unique festivals, and beautiful lake shorelines; not to mention, its well-maintained homes and friendly neighborhoods.
Irmo was incorporated on Christmas Eve in 1890. The town was named using the first two letters of the last names of two of the prominent railroad company men, C.J. Iredell and H.C. Moseley. Since it's humble beginning, the Town of Irmo has flourished into a most desirable place to call home.
Irmo is such a great town, it can't be contained within one county. It is shared by both Lexington County and Richland County, and is only 12 miles from the capital city of Columbia, SC. Irmo proudly possesses some of the state's finest schools in Lexington/Richland School District 5 and some of the state's friendliest neighborhoods, including the Harbison Community with great shopping and dining experiences.
Even with all this going for it, homes in Irmo are affordable, with the average price in the mid to high $100's. As a matter of fact, Money Magazine has recognized Irmo as the 12th "Most Affordable Place to Live in the Country." Why, there's no wonder why Irmo is one of the country's most desirable places to live! Is your new home waiting for you here?
